Gingoog - is a 2nd class city in the Province of Misamis
Oriental. Like other municipalities in the Philippines that retained
Spanish-based orthography, the city name is spelled as Gingoog but is
pronounced as hi-ngu-og or /hee-ngu-og/ since it originated as a Manobo word.
According to the 2007 Philippine census, the city has an estimated population
of about 112,247 people
Geography
Gingoog is located in the Province of Misamis Oriental in
the Philippines. Situated in Mindanao island, the second giant of the
archipelago of all the landmass of the Philippines. The city is approximately
122 kilometers east of Cagayan de Oro City and 74 kilometers west of Butuan
City. It is bounded on the east by the Municipality of Magsaysay, Misamis
Oriental; on the west by the Municipality of Medina, Misamis Oriental; on the
south by the Municipality of Claveria, Misamis Oriental; and on the north by
Gingoog Bay. Its total land area is 744 km.
Economy
There are plenty of restaurants such as Grahe Grill Haus,
Mansion By the Sea, New Lane Restaurant, Botoy's Grill and Restaurant, Sr.
Pedro, Jollibee, Kamayan by the Sea, BenRose Grill, Zinc Bar & Restaurant,
Pasio. Gingoog has no mall.
Local Products
Gingoog is abundant in the supply of fruits such as
lanzones, durian, mangosteen, mango, rambutan and marang. It is also abundant
in vegetables such as tomatoes and sweet peas. Among its produce are rice,
corn, coconut, banana, coffee, spices and rootcrops. Furthermore, it has vast
potentials for large scale livestock and poultry production.
Tourism Attractions
The city has diverse natural scenic attractions. There are
beaches, waterfalls, cave, lake and man-made attractions. The city is blessed with verdant mountains
namely Mt. Lunot and Balatukan both very rich in natural resources, flora and
fauna included. These mountains are haven to mountaineering enthusiasts.
